In January, we at Laughing Horse Productions held our 2020 Annual General Meeting. It was a fantastic afternoon, and we saw some new faces at the meeting, which is always so wonderful to see. As well as our formal proceedings, we also drew the winners of our raffle – There were some delectable prizes up for grabs including wine, a succulent bowl and vouchers to numerous places around WA.
A big shout out to all the local businesses who donated to the raffle:
Ambra Spirits | Aroma Café - Kenwick | Balloons Abuzz | Beacon Yoga Centre | Betts | Bunbury Dolphin Discovery | Captain Cook Cruises | Cockburn Ice Arena | Elizabeth’s Bookshops | Fernwood Woman’s Health Club - Cannington | Fickle Prickles | Gloucester Park | Gravity Discovery Centre | Great Southern Distilling Company | Green Door Vineyard & Winery | Hip-e Club | Kwinana Golf Club | Marriwood Park Wines | Matso’s Brewery | Perth Mint | Times-Up Escape Room | Timezone - Fremantle & Innaloo | West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
We presented our two directors of 2020 with our inaugural awards - The Giggles. As the director of Jekyll & Hyde, Zoe Jay was given the award for directing a well oiled show that was unfortunately cut short. Adam Salathiel, director of Seussical the Musical, was given the award for perservering with the production, despite the ups and downs that COVID bought.
In the outgoing presidential report, Adam Salathiel commented on the challenging year that was 2020:
"The outgoing committee has done an excellent job they assisted with bringing to the stage 'Jekyll & Hyde' and 'Seussical the Musical' despite restrictions placed on the arts and all venues all over the world not just Perth WA.
"All of this happened because of you, the members of Laughing Horse Productions. You regularly step forward and volunteer to do so much and contribute in so many ways. Thank you for demonstrating what it means to volunteer; to put service above self, to engage with the community and change lives.
"This year coming is proving to be even more exciting and more challenging for the incoming committee, with 3 productions scheduled for the Don Russell Performing Arts Centre (Steel Magnolias, Junglebook, Wizard of Oz) and another production at the Koorliny Arts Centre (Vicar of Dibley).
"Dear LHP members past, present and future this last year has changed my life, and I am forever grateful to you and to LHP for giving me this opportunity. Thank you."
A big thank you to all who attended on the day. Here's to 2021 - may we all stay safe and enjoy the times ahead!
